a new chapter

My grandmother passed away on Thursday. She wasn't even my biological grandmother, but I couldn't be close to my grandparents because they lived on the other side of the planet. So, I became rather attached to Jo, my late Grandma. I would send her cards, she loved cards, and I hate them, but she'd put them out and show them off and they meant more to her than jewels. I would also send her flowers that she would keep outside so that they would last for a month, instead of keeping them inside for everyone to see.
It's the idiosyncratic things that make us miss them. It's all the things that you thought was unreasonable, or embarrassing or just generally displeasing that our sorrow attaches to. I'll miss her racist comments, her incessant chatter, her horrible cooking. I will never have these things again.
Mostly I'm jealous. She's up in heaven. She deserves it, she's put in a lot of time on this shitty rock and now she gets to kick it with Jesus, and Einstein. I just want to see her again. She's talking someone's ear off in heaven. It's weird, but I miss that the most. It's so quiet in this house.
We found the perfect place for her remains. I took some pictures of the area. She'd really like it here.

a lengthy shoot, but well worth it

I finished shooting a Range Rover spot. It was a long one. 7 days, somewhat narritive. I'm very excited about the outcome.
I did, however, bust out the hipstamatic during the tech scouts to snap some shots.

downtown is so pleasant this time of year.

.....don't worry kids. That's a fake rat that I dressed to be dead. Don't call animal control on me just yet.

Yes, that is a seat of trash. Trash seat. So beautiful. Thank you under the 6th street bridge.

The photo below is a screenshot of the bedroom set I dressed. The art is compliments of the ever talented Alex Eckman-Lawn

You can't have a successful shoot without having gangster's line-dancing.

When it is all said and done I had a lot of fun with a lot of cool people, made some new friends, lost some sleep, and got to teach an 80-year-old woman how to shoot a revolver.

Mission accomplished. What mission, I don't know, but some mission somewhere.

the 1 hour of sleep post

I arrived at work at 3 pm today after working all morning. I thought it would be a 12 maybe 13 hour shoot for a music video I was art directing.

It is always beautiful working down town. However, as the work "day" passed along, I got more and more ambitious:
7pm
Cause I was working with a bunch of smoking Frenchmen

Then 11:30 rolls around
Starting to get loopy

Now it's 3:45am
Starting to loose grip with reality. Manual labor, running around, shooting in a parking structure for 12 hours...

5:04am
Just done.

I finally got home at 6:30. Went to bed for 1.5 hours. Woke up. Here I am....

The Maiden Voyage

This is the first posting of my blog. Actually this is my first blog ever.
I guess the point of this is just to put stuff up that I like/make/working on. Right now I'm working on this, so that's no exciting. But I'll add pictures soon! And other stuff.
